Florida Health Care Plans is dedicated to preventative medicine and encourages patients to seek assistance in promoting their health and well-being. This includes helping our members who are ready to stop smoking.

Make an appointment with your physician to discuss our self-paced program that will help you stop smoking.

The "Creating a Smoke-Free Life" booklet helps you learn more about the habit of smoking. The "Moving Toward a Smoke-Free Life" booklet outlines steps to help you quit smoking. Other programs to consider:

QuitSmart

The QuitSmart Method for smoking cessation was created by Dr. Robert Shipley, Director of Duke University's Stop Smoking Clinic. It features three biweekly sessions, each two hours in length. QuitSmart is offered by Florida Health Care Plans for members at various locations. Class size is limited for this popular program. Call (386) 676-7110 for more information.

Florida "Quit" Line

This is a program offered by telephone. It includes free counseling by trained counselors, each up to 45 minutes in length. It is co-sponsored by the Florida Department of Health and the American Cancer Society. Call 1-877-822-6669 for more information.

Veterans Quit Smoking Program: Daytona Beach VA Outpatient Clinic

This is a program designed for veterans who wish to quit smoking. It is available through Veterans Administration Daytona Beach VA Outpatient Clinic. The program consists of group treatment including three two-hour sessions that meet on alternate weeks. Treatment is only available to eligible enrolled veterans. Contact your VA Primary Care Provider for more information.

Freedom From Smoking On-Line: American Lung Association of Florida

This free online program is presented by the American Lung Association of Florida. It features seven online quit-smoking modules modeled after the American Lung Association community clinic program and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Visit www.lungusa.org for more information.
